Accounts for Family Funds at Foundations

Philanthropist individuals and families will often work with Community Foundations to establish named charitable funds with their organization. In Salesforce, we create an account for each distinct family fund using the following conventions:

  1. Account Name: [Foundation Name]-[Family Fund Name] e.g., Ottawa Community Foundation-Brodhead Fund
  2. Parent Account: Search for the account for the Foundation
  3. Type: Charity-Canada
  4. Primary Contact: Enter one if available
  5. Address: Typically c/o the main Foundation
  6. Recognition Name: Usually stated in the grant letter e.g., Ottawa Community  Foundation - Brodhead Fund
  1. If the foundation is a registered charity, enter information into the following fields in the Grantee Section in this order:
  • CRA Status
  • Last CRA Check, hit save
  • Charity Number, hit save
