Affiliating Contacts with Organizations
To use this procedure the Account and the Contact to be affiliated with it, are assumed to have already been created in Salesforce. See Creating Contacts and Accounts for more on how to do these tasks.
Contacts in Salesforce can be affiliated with more than one Organization account, but one of these affiliations can also be identified as the Primary affiliation for the Contact.
- Open any existing Account record that is an Organization account type.
- Click on the Related Tab and scroll down to the Affiliated Contacts section

- On the Affiliation Edit page, the Organization is already populated for you. Enter a role in the Role field (this is the role that Contact has in the Organization, such as CEO), a Start Date for the Affiliation (if you know it) and a Description if necessary.
- Identify whether the Contact has the Organization as their primary affiliation by checking the Primary check box.
If you identify the organization as the Contact's Primary Affiliation, the Organization will be displayed as a an affiliation on the Contact's record as well.
- Click in the Contact field to earch for and select the Contact you wish to affiliate with the Organization.
- Click the Save button when done.
Removing a Contact's Affiliation with an Account
You can remove an affiliation from either the affiliated Account record or the affiliated Contact record. This procedure shows how to do it from the Account record.
- Open the Account record containing the affiliation.
- Navigate to the Related Tab, scroll down to the Affiliated Contacts section and click on the drop-down arrow next to the affiliation you wish to edit. The Edit button will appear.

- To remove the affiliation but keep a record of the relationship, click Edit. On the Affiliation Edit pop-up, change the Status field from Current to Former and enter a date in the End Date field. Click the Save button when done.
