6. Tracking activities - e) Post working files to a task or meeting record

You may share and collaborate on documents saved in Box with other users by posting them to relevant tasks or meeting records in Salesforce. For example, a user may wish to share a draft proposal file, saved in the Box folder on the opportunity record, by posting it to the Salesforce task record corresponding to that proposal.

Follow these steps to post a document saved in Box on a task or meeting record in Salesforce:

  1. Open the Box folder on the Salesforce record where the document is saved.

Note: If the file has not yet been saved to the Box folder on a Salesforce record, you must do that first. (See Manage documents and files in Salesforce and Box)

  1. Within the Box interface, select the file that you wish to post to the task or meeting record. Press the Share button.
  2. A sharing dialog will open. Press the Copy button to copy the shared link to the File to the clipboard.
  3. Open the task or meeting record that you wish to post the document to.
  4. If the Chatter feed for the task or meeting record is hidden, press Show Feed. 
  1. Select the Link chatter quick action.
  1. Paste the Box sharing link into the Link URL field. You can leave the Link Name field blank.
  2. Click where it says “Say something about this link”. Enter a brief description of the document (e.g. “Proposal draft”). You can also @ mention and any internal users you wish to be notified and add a message for them.
  1. Press Share
  2. Any users you mentioned in step 8 above will receive a notification and will have the opportunity to reply o view the e-mail or meeting record you have created in Salesforce, press the “View this record in Salesforce” button:
